Teaching Learning Activities

In-Service Education

Internal Programs

Regular in-house training sessions such as workshops, seminars, conferences, health talks, and exhibitions are organized for faculty and students. These initiatives aim to enhance knowledge and skill development. National and international conferences, staff welfare programs, and health awareness activities are also conducted periodically.

External Participation

Students are actively encouraged to take part in academic programs and events organized by other educational institutions, hospitals, and professional bodies to broaden their learning experience.

Co-Curricular Activities

Co-curricular initiatives are designed to foster holistic development and complement classroom learning. First-year nursing students receive training in soft skills and English language proficiency. In collaboration with the Association of Nurse Executives India (ANEI), Society of Midwives India (SOMI), and the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), specialized sessions on various topics are regularly held. Students also participate in intercollegiate English Literary and Talent Exams conducted by Shakespeare Publications, as well as other competitions organized by the aforementioned associations.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Extra-curricular activities are organized to rejuvenate and uplift the morale of students and faculty without disrupting their academic schedule. The college’s sports committee, with support from a professional coach, trains students in various sports. Students are grouped into four houses—Tulip, Shamrock, Bluebells, and Orchid—and inter-house competitions are held annually. Winners are awarded trophies during the annual sports meet.

Journal Club

Journal Club meetings are held on the second Friday of every month. These gatherings also include sessions of the Continuous Nursing Education (CNE) program organized by the committee members.

Clinical Practice

Students undergo clinical training at the parent institution, MMM Hospital, as well as at affiliated hospitals and community health centers.

Parent Hospital

The Madras Medical Mission (MMM) is a world-class super-specialty hospital. Students receive hands-on experience, including the use of advanced medical equipment and exposure to efficient healthcare delivery systems.

Community Service

Students actively participate in community outreach programs involving immunization, maternal and child health, school health services, and national health initiatives. These are delivered through activities like home visits, puppet shows, role plays, projects, mimes, health talks, and mass awareness campaigns. Nutritional assessments and cooking demonstrations are also part of these visits. MMM College of Nursing has adopted Ayyapakkam village in Tiruvallur district to provide sustained community healthcare services.
